To Gift or Not To Gift? That is the Question.

’Tis the season when organizations and businesses are thinking about holiday gifts. Do they gift to their staff, employees, clients or members? And what makes the perfect gift? 

 

Gifting to membership, staff and clients is not an expense…it’s an investment that can pay off huge.  These people are influencers vouching for and promoting your, event, organization or company.  

 

If it is a membership organization, the members pay to be in this program and they expect value from their investment to the program.  Value is the key component of membership. If you stop gift giving to members, you are taking a value away from them and maybe you lose members because of it, which is counterproductive to the end goal, which is to attain more memberships and be a value add to someone’s life.

 

If it is an employee, staff member or client, gifting is a show of appreciation that their work, dedication and business is worth it. If you stop gifting after years of gifting, what does that say to the long term employee or client? Are they not worth it? What is their value?
